Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Activities (SKK Migas) is an institution established by the Government of Republic of Indonesia to manage the country’s upstream oil and gas activities. SKK Migas works to ensure the exploitation of the oil and gas resources will generate maximum benefits for the state and the greatest welfare for the people. SKK Migas’s roles include signing the oil and gas cooperation contracts with the contractors; reviewing and submitting the first plan of development of oil and gas working areas to the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister; approving the contractors’ work program and budget; and monitoring as well as evaluating the contractors’ performances. As of April 2017, SKK Migas supervised 277 contractors, which include 85 contractors in production phase and 192 contractors in exploration phase.
